Office Safety Training DVDs and Videos

How do I best approach Office Safety Training? You must use an Office Safety Training video or DVD to keep your audience interested and to deliver the office safety training successfully. Office Safety Training is extremely important because the office does not contain the obvious risks and safety issues that can exist in industrial or manufacturing environments. Safetycares Office Safety Training products are used extensively throughout the UK.

The need for safety training with a focus on the Office workplace is as important as it is in any factory. Even though dangers to Office Safety are not as obvious, they are every bit as real considering the HSE statistics for production hours lost due to Stress, Repetitive Strain Injuries, MusculoSkeletal Disorders and Upper Limb Disorders.

Recent HSE statistics confirm that Office Safety and work-related stress is widespread in the UK working population and is not confined to particular sectors or high risk jobs and industries. This is why a population-wide approach to Office Safety and Training is necessary to tackle the challenges posed by Office Health and Safety issues.

Fire Training Videos and DVDs

We have a whole series of video covering all of the main Fire Training themes, such as preventing office fires, portable fire extinguishers and burns. Fire Training just got easy!

The HSE regulates the parameters of Fire Safety, recently through the General Fire Safety and Fire Awareness Regulatory Reform Policy of 2005.

In regard to Fire Safety and Training, HSE is mainly concerned with process fire precautions. These are the special fire precautions, required in any workplace in connection with the work process that are being carried out there (including the storage of articles, substances and materials relating to that work process). They are designed to prevent or reduce the incidence of the outbreak of fire and in case a fire does occur, to reduce its spread and intensity. Some examples of process fire precautions are:

  • Storage of flammable liquids in process areas, workrooms, laboratories and similar working areas
  • ventilation systems to dilute or remove flammable gas or vapour
  • selecting equipment that will not be a source of ignition
  • extraction systems to remove combustible materials such as wood dust.

In the majority of fire safety cases, responsibility for enforcement of fire safety legislation in respect of "special premises" has transferred from HSE to the relevant local fire and rescue authority.

HSE Fire Training and Fire Awareness DVD and Video titles are available on our site from: Fire Safety and Training catalogue.

Forklift Safety

Forklift Safety is a serious matter in many workplaces and warehouses. Presenting Safetycares Forklift Safety DVD will reiterate to your forklift operators, the fundamental principles of Forklift Safety. The threats that Forklifts present are sometimes taken too lightly and people can become complacent when working with Forklift trucks. The key to Forklift Safety is a strict licencing policy and appropriate and thorough training.

ForkLift trucks are particularly dangerous in the workplace. In 5 years, 21,190 injuries involving forklift trucks were reported to the HSE. Of these 94 were fatal, 5758 were major and 15,338 resulted in people being off work for 3 or more days. According to HSE statistics, on average forklift trucks are involved in 24% of all workplace transport accidents. Accidents involving forklift trucks are often due to poor supervision and a lack of forklift truck training.

Confined Space

What is a Confined Space? How do you deal with a Confined Space? Safetycare have an excellent DVD called Confined Space Safety. This is the first step in implementing a successful Confined Space HSE policy. Working safety in a Confined Space is so important because often there is no warning sign to the dangers within, and the consequences are often fatal and multiple. Confined Spaces are documented as an issue by NEBOSH, HSE and IOSH.

The HSE defines a confined space as a place which is substantially enclosed (though not always entirely), and where serious injury can occur from hazardous substances or conditions within the space or nearby.

Confined Spaces have hazards unique to themselves, such as Fire safety or when fumes are about. A number of people are killed or seriously injured in the UK each year in confined spaces. These confined space injuries occur across a wide range of industries, from those involving complex plant operations through to simple storage vessels in a confined space. Those killed in confined spaces include not only people working in the confined space but those who try to rescue them without proper training or equipment.

Confined Space training is incorporated into the NEBOSH, HSE and IOSH courses. To view our Video and DVD titles, please go to: Confined space training courses.

Behavioural Safety Training

What is Behavioural Safety? Safetycares Behavioural Safety DVD will tell you all about it! From a definintion of Behavioural Safety, to how to implement it into your work place. In the United Kingdom, Behavioural Safety is seen as one of the final steps in an effective HSE policy. After engineering and administrative controls are put in place, Behavioural Safety plays a real part in motivating staff to invest in the safety program too.

In recent years there has been an increase in the use of behavioural safety or behaviour modification approaches to safety. There is a wide range of Behavioural Safety programmes available, but they generally involve the definition of safe / unsafe behaviours, observations of behaviours and feedback / reinforcement of behaviours.

Risk Assessment

Risk Assessment is one of the biggest Occupational Health and Safety themes in the UK today. HSE, IOSH and NEBOSH all recognise the importance of Risk Assessment.

A risk assessment is simply a careful examination of what, in your work, could cause harm to people, so that you can weigh up whether you have taken enough precautions in your risk assessment or should you do more to prevent harm. To conduct a Risk Assessment, follow the five steps below:

  • Assess the hazards and risks
  • Assess who might be harmed and the risks involved in a given procedure
  • Evaluate the risks and decide on precaution
  • Record your findings in the risk assessment and implement them
